The other day Connor and I were having a little chat in the bathroom. We were discussing the golden bathroom rule – always wash your hands with soap and water after using the toilet. Right now he’s of the mind that if he doesn’t touch the toilet, he doesn’t have to wash his hands. Not so I said! We have to wash our hands just as we have to brush our teeth and have showers – to get the germs off and to be clean. I told him it was all part of something called hygiene. That’s when he turned to me and very seriously proclaimed that he didn’t want to do hygiene, he wanted to do lowgiene.

That’s right, only 10 more sleeps until Connor and I transform into snowbirds and fly off to Florida for a bit of R and R with Grandma and Grandpa. Not really sure how much rest and relaxation we’ll actually get considering the fact that they never sit still for more than two minutes, but dammit, we’re sure going to try.

Here’s another recent example of Connor’s growing independence.    On Tuesday morning I told Connor that I had to blow the snow out of the driveway with Grandpa’s tractor.  (We’ve had snow this week – lots of snow.)  I asked him if he would like to watch Treehouse and eat his flakes while I cleaned the driveway.  His response was, “Okay, you do the tractor – I’ll do the flakes.”  And so I did.  And so he did.  Although he had to pop his head out the kitchen door every few minutes to see if I was done, he did manage to eat all his cereal and catch two episodes of Elmo’s World.

I’m warning you, this is a big post – many pictures!

Labour Day Weekend 2007 was full of fun and adventures. It all started on our way up to Grandma and Grandpa’s in Wiarton. Connor’s obsession with water towers has continued and grown. He is now at the point where he wants to touch the towers. That’s okay with me, but not with some municipalities. Many of the water towers have fences around them and even though Connor thinks that Grandpa has a key to unlock the gates, their fences cannot be breached. The Tara water tower, which is blue for your information, is one of the few we’ve found that is accessible. As a special treat on the way to Wiarton we stopped to touch it!

I’ve just added a new category called ‘Connorisms’. There are a few things that come out of this boy’s mouth that are very unique or totally hillarious and I wanted to have a place to showcase them. Here are just a few ‘Connorisms’.
