That’s right, only 10 more sleeps until Connor and I transform into snowbirds and fly off to Florida for a bit of R and R with Grandma and Grandpa. Not really sure how much rest and relaxation we’ll actually get considering the fact that they never sit still for more than two minutes, but dammit, we’re sure going to try.

Connor is becoming a regular little chatterbox on the phone. First he’ll talk to Grandma, then he asks to talk to Grandpa, then he wants the other one back again. He still thinks they are ‘in’ the phone. When they are not in the phone he thinks they are in Wiarton. Everytime we drive through Gowanstown he asks “Is that the way to Wiarton?”. We’ve done a lot of talking about Florida. He wants to know if the town of Florida has water towers. I think Grandma and Grandpa are getting excited about our pending arrival. We’ve gone over numerous ideas for outings and have already planned our first day – a bike shopping trip. The last time Connor and I went to Florida Grandpa had picked up a new two-wheeler with training wheels. It was called Big Bite Snappy Jaws. Connor just refers to it as his blue bike.

Riding bikes with Grandpa in Florida.

Time has passed and Connor has grown, so we’re going to pick up a new bike. It won’t fit in our suitcase coming home, but G & G can bring it home with them. With any luck, their arrival will fall in line with the beginning of biking season.

Here’s the latest Connorism – when a shirt or pants are inside out, Connor says they are ‘inside over’. One of his newest words is ‘ruined’. (Not sure where that one came from.) Connor likes saying certain words. I think he likes the way they sound or how his mouth feels when he says them. One of his fav’s is a name – ‘Melanie’, and not to be forgotten, ‘Hermione’. Jimmy and I were filling out his Nascar Pool picks this morning and we chose the rookie driver who had the name we figured Connor would most like saying, ‘Patrick Carpentier’. Yah, so we’re a little weird – we’re happy!

In other news, skating lessons are going very well. If I can figure out how to add a video clip, I’ll do a post with Connor’s skates in motion. A couple weeks ago on the way to skating, Connor told me he was going to do lots of stand up skating. What is stand up skating? Well, that would be the opposite of sit down and crawl skating. He still falls back on a little snowplowing with his hockey helmet every now and then, but what a difference a few weeks makes. Last Monday night, for the majority of his lesson he did stand up skating. It was a proud moment!

A not so proud moment earlier today, was the discovery that I have old lady abs. The horror! Okay, I didn’t just discover it today, I may have been in a little bit of denial. Does anyone know how long it takes to heal from lap band surgery? Will 10 more sleeps about cover it? To borrow a phrase from a friend, OMG! In preparation for this Florida trip I need to find and buy a one-piece bathing suit, get my eyebrows waxed, and shave my legs – there’s not enough time!!!

I gotta go…
